Off the Beaten Track


Undoubtedly, the Annapurna and Everest region offer the most beautiful trekking routes in the world. Over 60% of the trekkers in Nepal trek better-known trails in Annapurna region. Due to this over concentration of trekkers in these particular areas, a negative impact on environment has been noticed. Here we are introducing some of the very interesting routes which are less crowded and suitable for those trekkers who would like to repeat or who would prefer to preserve the solitary aspect of their Himalayan trekking experience.


a) Langtang and Holy Gosaikunda

Grade: 4 Days: 7 – 10

The trek starts with a 7/8 hours’ drive to Dunche (1966m). The trek goes through rhododendron forests and arrives at Langtang village (3514m). The valley is described as “one of the world’s most beautiful valleys”. After a free day at Kuanjin Gompa (3749m), we descend to Syabru and from there climb up to the Buddhist monastery, Sing Gompa (3350m). The view of deep Trisuli River in between Ganesh (7406m) and Langtang (7245m) is outstanding. Other mountains visible from Lauri Bena are Himal Chuli (6893m) and even Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Then comes in the holy lake Gosaikunda (4600m). A rest day here allows one to explore the lake. Three days’ trekking on the ridgeline with superb mountain scenery ends up at Sundarijal and a drive to Kathmandu.

b) Trail of Victorious Gurkhas

Grade: 2 Days: 3

This trek follows the old trail from Kathmandu to the west of Nepal. A famous Gurkha King followed the route in the 18 century. The 7 days’ trek offers magnificent views of the mountains and valleys and forts en route. This trek in the low elevation is the best for moderate walkers and those who love culture.

c) Kathmandu Kaleidoscope

Grade: 2 Days: 1 – 7

This is a unique trek in luxury as the trail goes on an average of 2000m. This trek gives a Kaleidoscope view of the nature, culture, religion and Himalayan peaks as you hike and camp on the Kathmandu Valley rim. You can do this trek from one to seven days.
